Trends in New York’s Not for Profit Sector – Is your Agency Ready?

We encourage you to extend invitations to board members, senior staff, and other key decision makers in your organizations.

Doug Sauer, Executive Director of the New York Council of Nonprofits, Inc. (NYCON) will lead a discussion of the current and future landscape for not for profit organizations locally and in the State. He will describe the current environment and share his expert and informed perspective on the trends impacting the sector including regionalization, state funding trends, Medicaid reform, and partnerships & consolidations.

Questions to be discussed include: What does regionalization and scale mean for the future of not for profit agencies in New York State? What will agencies need to do to remain competitive and viable in a changing landscape? What can agencies do today to better position them for the future?

About the Presenter 

Since 1980, Doug Sauer has served as Executive Director New York Council of Nonprofits, Inc. (NYCON), the largest state association of nonprofits in the country. He is also CEO of Governance Matters, Inc., that operates charitySTRONG.org, a free, online NYS board matching and e-learning site.

Doug is nationally recognized as an expert technical assistance provider and trainer in board governance, mergers and restructuring, strategic planning, social enterprises, risk management, and community planning and is a well-respected policy advocate. He is also skilled in nonprofit governance capacity assessments and customized board matching.
